Take a Hike on the Wild Side, in partnership with:

Take a Hike has partnered with Metro Vancouver Parks to bring the Wild Side initiative to life.
The planting area will be in Matsqui Regional Park, in the Fraser Valley next to the Mission Bridge.
The story behind the Matsqui Park: Metro Vancouver bought the land in 2009 from a tree farming company. The trees were planted far too close to survive on their own so all trees had to be removed. The current lot is a large mud area with tree stumps. Metro Vancouver's Park Planner has devised a plan to "naturalize" the area, including trees, shrubs and trails. Take a Hike is the first group to plant in the area.
What is Take a Hike's role in the park rejuvenation process?
Take a Hike and its corporate partners are the first people to go in and plant at Matsqui Park, the start of the Park's revitalization and naturalization process! Metro Vancouver Parks staff will be on-hand the day of the planting for coordination and educational purposes.
What type of trees will be planted? In the spirit of biodiversity, we will be planting a combination of trees, shrubs and pernennials including: Sitka Spruce, Red Cedar, Black Hawthorn, Red elderberry, Redosier Dogwood, Salmonberry, Deer Fren, Salal, etc.
