2010-2011 Student Results
2010-2011 saw a physical expansion with new classrooms, more storage space and additional space for therapists.
Students continued to be challenged acedemically through a variety of lectures and field study. This resulted in each student consistently challenging their abilities, and some great results for the year!
NO grade 11 or 12 student failed a course!
In addition to academic achievement, 6 students from Grade 10 completed the Bronze Award in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
The Grade 10 class also completed the Recreational Avalanche course.
All students also competed at least 2 hours of volunteering per week as part of their curriculum.
This year grade 11/12 participated in ABL with a 10 day canoe trip to Bowron Lakes (Sept 2010), a 4 day snow-shoe camp in Garibaldi Provincial Park (March 2011), and the West Coast Trail (May 2011).
Grade 10 also had 3 great trips, Granite Falls (Oct 2010), Hollyburn Scout Cabin (Feb 2011) and capped the year with a 10 day kayak trip to Desolation Sound (June 2011).
These trips forced students to use their problem solving skils and required they learn how to work as part of a team. They experienced stress, but also learned how to deal with these issues and experience a sense of accomplishment and success.
Overall there was a marked improvement in physical fitness, and several quitting smoking entirely.
