Program results
2005-2006 student results for the grade 10 and grade 11/12 programs:
- 77 percent of the initial grade 10 students completed the school year; as did 90 percent of the grade 11 students. 100 percent of the grade 12 students graduated.
- Since joining the program, students in all grades have demonstrated measurable improvement in their self-esteem, communication, as well as their connection to school and ability to manage stress
- Students provided over 1,820 hours of volunteer service to the community
- All students received certification and training in First Aid and CPR
- Eleven students completed the drug and alcohol counselling program. Camping trips had a significant impact on drug, tobacco and alcohol use as these substances are banned on the trips, forcing students with dependency issues to become aware of their addictions
2004-2005 grade 11/12 student results:
- All eight grade 12 students graduated, three with a Dogwood Certificate and five with a School Leaving Certificate. Five are planning to continue their education
- Since joining the program, all students have demonstrated measurable improvements in their self-esteem; communication and conflict resolution skills; ability to manage stress and connection to school
- Students acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to complete four multi-day camping trips, including one ten-day expedition
- Students provided over 700 hours of volunteer service to the community
- Students received certification in emergency first aid, CPR and swimming
- Completed assignments increased by 10%, the class average increased from C to C+, attendance increased by 5% and punctuality increased by 7% since the beginning of the year
- Five students completed a program of drug and alcohol counselling
