Take a Hike at Risk Youth Foundation

take a hike

Take a Hike is an alternative education program that engages at-risk youth through a unique combination of adventure-based learning, academics, counselling, and community involvement.

In partnership with the Vancouver School Board, the Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation supports 40 at-risk youth per year, ages 15-19, to make positive change in their lives. The ultimate result of the Take a Hike approach is that barriers to learning are minimized, personal issues are addressed, and students achieve a greater level of personal, academic and social success.

School's in! It doesn't take long for the Take a Hike youth to get their feet wet... The grade 11/12 youth have already left for their 10-day canoe expedition to the Bowron Lakes. All the new grade 10 youth, most experiencing the great outdoors for the first time, will head to Manning Park next week or a three-day hiking expedition.
