Creative, passionate, and sociable, Catherine has a passion for building community and promoting the creation of safe spaces for vulnerable groups in society. As the Marketing Coordinator, Catherine ensures that Take a Hike’s digital presence conveys the organization’s mission and vision through digital marketing.

Catherine’s passion for urban development, environmental sustainability, social justice, and equity issues propelled her towards pursuing a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and visual arts at the University of Calgary. After COVID-19, Catherine felt the sense of community in the Black community was lost and decided to start The Black Girl in Vancouver Guide which underscored her commitment to fostering connectivity, a safe space, and a non-judgmental space for black women in BC. As a proud woman of colour, Catherine has a passion for learning about the world around her and her place in it. This then sparked her interest in joining the non-profit sector to use her skills to support young people and eventually found her way to Take a Hike.

Outside of work, Catherine enjoys spending time with her friends, content creation and working on different creative projects. However, she is no stranger to staying indoors for a low-key night playing on her game console or watching true crime docuseries. Ask Catherine about our presence in the digital world, Gossip Girl (2007), and Korean pop culture.
