Manager of Philanthropy, Grants

sarah@takeahikefoundation.org

Resourceful, persistent and a Virgo, Sarah has a passion for many things but mostly creativity and social justice. As the manager of philanthropy, Sarah is a crucial support to Take a Hike’s government relations and is grant writing superstar. Sarah has a sense of optimism and ambition about what is possible, an ability to solve problems and find a way through complexity, and a passion for learning new things.

Sarah spent most of her professional life working in non-profits. After her undergraduate degree, Sarah did  her masters degree in global politics and non-profits, then moved to Mexico City for a year where she did an internship focused on labour rights and the rights of mining communities. Sarah then worked in London for an international development organization where she did a wide variety of work, including some writing and speechwriting. Since moving to Vancouver, Sarah’s worked in youth-serving organizations in communications and writing roles, including her current role at Take a Hike where she works with grant writing and government relations.

As a part time visual art student at Emily Carr University, Sarah enjoys making ceramics and has also started sewing again. Sarah enjoys spending time with her baby and going to the beach. If Sarah could be anywhere this very second, she would be at Third Beach floating in the sea and looking back at the trees in Stanley Park (in the summer!) Ask Sarah about grant writing, sewing patterns and the award winning Netflix show “Bridgerton”.
