Left Coast Naturals uses celebration to support local Take a Hike program

LEFT COAST NATURALS CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

For immediate release – In celebrating their 25th anniversary, Left Coast Naturals has generously donated to Take a Hike’s Burnaby, BC program. This fund allows the 22 youth in the Burnaby program access to more clinical counselling and mental health support, as well as outdoor adventure, and academics. Almost 70% of the youth in the Take a Hike program said that COVID-19 has had a negative effect on their mental health. This gift to Take a Hike helps ensure that these youth are not disproportionately affected by the global pandemic.

Take a Hike empowers youth who experience vulnerability to change the trajectory of their lives with a holistic mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom.

Take a Hike’s work to give vulnerable youth in Burnaby life-changing opportunities to alter their path and reach their full potential would be impossible without the generous support of groups like Left Coast Naturals. In the fall, Left Coast Naturals plans to continue this support by providing healthy snacks for our youth to enjoy during day trips and adventure-based learning days.

“The generous donation received from Left Coast Naturals makes all the difference in our Burnaby program and helps Take a Hike provide youth with the mental health and well-being support they need to thrive.” – Gordon Matchett, CEO at Take a Hike

Left Coast Naturals states, “We are proud to partner with an organization that aligns so well with our values of sustainability and supporting at-risk communities. We appreciate the impact that Take a Hike is having in our community.”

“I spent my youth working as an outdoor guide for teenagers, and I appreciate the impact that being in the outdoors can provide for youth at such an important and formative age. We applaud the work that Take a Hike is doing with young people in our community, and we are proud to support them.” – Ian Walker, Founder of Left Coast Naturals
